In the past, CouchDB used to put the release notes on a page on the website.
We've since changed to generating text and HTML versions and putting them in our dist dir: http://www.apache.org/dist/couchdb/notes/1.2.0/ Up to you what you do, really! (Domain redirection is totally fine too.)
