Mike, I think what's happening is that it's trying to build the non open source components. These are not shipped in the distribution and you need to download them by hand.
Seems that eclipse went through the pom.xml automatically and assumed nonoss . Check: https://cwiki.apache.org/CLOUDSTACK/building-with-maven.html You will see how you can grab them manually, this may help.
