Did you restart the management server when you changed the expunge interval ?

Also does your physical network still exist ? I believe , once you get rid of 
the all the VM's you need to delete it as well to be able to delete a zone.

Following the advice on another email, I changed the expunge timeouts to 60s, 
so far nothing happened, though.
