Well, it might be an interesting project but MS and SAIT signed an 
exclusive agreement a couple of years ago.  As such a lot of the labs will 
have MS Office and stuff installed. I remember when I was there they were 
still running Novell but I believe they had already started the transition 
to a Windows NT network.

I would recommend against using VMware. It will cost to much. I know in our 
CNT lab we just had dual boot systems. Remember MS has given SAIT a very 
good deal on Windows licenses so they won't be as concerned with the 
Windows Tax as a private company will.

If I were you I wouldn't worry about suggesting Desktop operating systems 
but talk about using Samba fileservers.  Using older servers that won't run 
Windows 2K well, as Linux webservers or fileservers.

They have a pretty good budget as far as I remember. The instructors had no 
problem ordering high-end systems for workstation and such.
