Hi Jarrod, I used to use a free (for personal use) ssh client for windows from www.ssh.com and called it a day (nice graphical 2-way file transfer interface and everything). No SMB shares needed. All ssh, all the time.
The only drawbacks are that the Windows machine has to inititate the transfer via the ssh client (They (www.SSH.com) have server software that costs, so I just used to stick to using a client).The other drawback is no print-sharing.
