Hello everyone,
That was a lot of fun! I want more and I know that those I talked to all agree. Thanks to Nexus for inviting us and letting us use their space. Thanks of course to everyone who coordinated the event and to all the volunteers. I learned a lot by working on live projects, working with others to solve the problem, and having fun while learning it all. As for more events, guess what? The Computer Recycling Society (C.R.S.) manager/coordinator showed up at our Tweak-Fest and was impressed. He has offered their warehouse space and resources for another installfest and also any workshops we want to present. Actually, an installfest at the C.R.S. could also run co-currently with a computer rebuilding event. The way the computer rebuilding event would work is to cannibalize the their stock of used computers, build a system, install Linux, and then either: buy it for a song or give it back to the C.R.S. who would then donate it to one of the 16+ NFP societies that they assist. Pick your charity, build the system, and maybe even have races to see who can build the most systems. So how about it? How many takers for another installfest on a Saturday from 11am to 6pm? Say: Nov 16 or 23? One more thing: Anyone interested in volunteering to set up the C.R.S. server to run on Linux? Cheers indeed, Peter Williams CLUG Membership #02L02203 CLUG email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
