So after many years of using/configuring various
MTA's and MUA's, and not being completely satisfied, I beleive I have
to try and find a long term, permanent solution. So as a database guy/developer
my first requirement is for a database backend, preferably Mysql or
Postgresql.
1: Database backend for mail boxes, account info,
filtering rules etc (assuming this is possible)
2: Platform/client independant. So a web based
front end, probably in through IMAP and not POP so that the folders/filtering
are done on the server and sent to the client.
So far, the only thing that looks close is the
Postfix-Cyrus-Mysql combination and although I have used all three before, not
in this joint-configuration so if anyone has this setup, or has used/configured
it, I would be interested in talking with you.
I also ran CommunigatePro for a while and it was
GREAT and gave me everything I needed, but I was not that familiar with its
configuration at first and so quickly became a well-used open-relay for a few
days....around 50,000 spam emails sent out......I am so ashamed.
Thanks in advance for any
suggestions
