Depends on your kernel config, but you shouldn't be pointing your mouse to /dev/psaux. Try /dev/input/mice or /dev/usb/mice (I make a symlink to the former from /dev/mouse). Also, try not booting into X but starting it from a shell (startx) that will make debuging you problem easier. But if X is freezing it might not even be making it to your mouse, it typically just quits if it can't find a mouse. Starting X from the console might give you more insight into what the problem is.

Hi all,
I've been trying to install X 4.1.0-16 on my Debian r3 system. Every time I boot into X the system freezes. I think this is because of my logitech wireless mouse. Is there something special that I need to do with a wireless(usb) mouse in the XF86Config-4 file?
My current Mouse configuration is
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Configured Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "CorePointer"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection
TIA
