I have worked a bit with Radius. From what I have seen it is pretty
bullet-proof. Someone would have be doing a lot to sniff those packets. I
know the accounting and everything on their is pretty sweet. Most Radius
products will o a simple easy import into something like a spreadsheet
(*.cvs files are most common I think) to assist with your accounting, but I
imagine any database will do.

I used to work with Radius, as well, and have to say that for AAA, it's perfect. Back then when I worked for that ISP in the Phils., we used Radiator ... a Perl RADIUS server! We had two or three servers set up to handle nationwide dialups and since it was written, hacking it was a dream! It's not open source to the public though.

Haven't worked with LDAP (but would like to play) really so can't add any
insight there.

If I had a client that wanted me to set up their network, LDAP is probably the way I'd go. Authentication, mail, etc.
