Hey All, Just thought I would give a mention that Staples - Chinook has Mandrake 9.0 on the shelves as well as our beloved StarOffice 6.0. The only one I saw was the PowerPack edition but I am sure the regular one is floating around as well...usually is. It sells for $79.95.
On the subject of StarOffice, I wanted to let everyone know the success I have been having selling it to customers. I have a dream of having my own computer shop someday and I will let you know, it will DEFINITELY be sitting on the shelf besides MS Orifice. As well, one of my business clients had an illegal version of MS Office and there were problems with it. I used mine to fix it but when we did some upgrades and stuff to his system recently the office would not register because the "Redmond Draconian Society" decide I had installed it on to many systems. So...simple solution...www.openoffice.org and he now happily using an open source product for his office tasks. He did purchase Outlook 2002 because it has all the features he needs and I wasn't sure if Evolution had a windows version or not. Another client, is looking at hosting his own web server and eventually delivering his database/software product from a web-based interface. He is using an access base right for ease of use and a few ideas, but is definitely intrigued by the FLOSS idea. Have been working slowly on him and I think it will likely be in consideration. Will keep you updated, as I am sure I will need advice as things progress. Just wanted to encourage everyone...knowing that small victories are being won!
