(clug-talk) Wi-Fi Recommendations

Hi,

I'm plannign on setting up a wireless network at home based on 802.11[ab] and was wondering what brands and models people here would recommend for PCI-based NICs as well as Access Points. My primary considerations are: 1) it works with Linux (of course), 2) security and 3) price (in that order). Does one even need an AP in order to have a secure wireless network (IOW, can't ad-hoc be secure)?
