When compiling from source, you can use a CFLAGS option such as the following:
--march=i686.

This would work fine for a Pentium platform, but what about an AMD K6/Athlon/Duron?
I've looked in the man pages for gcc, but cannot see any reference to the "--
march" option.

I've been told I could use "--march=K6", though I don't know that a "K7" option would
be available. Any ideas?

TIA.
