I just overheard the last couple sentences from General Franks in a CNN news conference with Donald Rumsfeld on the "Showdown in Iraq" and over heard something interesting (it was on in the background so I did hear it all). Is this Linux related some might ask? I would tend to believe it is. Any further evidence of monopolistic behavior...

or bullying tacktics...

further adds to the appeal, and consideration, of alternatives like Linux and other OSS.

So what did I hear? They were answering various questions about Qatar, Korea, Iraq, UN Resolution etc, and General Frank said "Every time I have to go from Microsoft something, to Microsoft something else, I have to go through a major learning curve" and then they mentioned something about being happy with the "technology" or "technical solutions" they are using?

Admittedly I did not hear the exact context of what they were saying, but we already know the herculean efforts Micrsoft went through to discourage the US Military from releasing their pro-open source report, so either way, this VERY public critisizm and negative comment about Microsoft on the VERY public CNN/Iraq forum must be very painful for old Bill, but even better news for Linux, open source software or whatever "alternatives" General Franks was alluding to.

Just food for thought.
