Roy...check out smarttech's website.  They have drivers and software for Unix and Linux environments listed right there.

I am looking for some multimedia tools to use with Linux.

First, many places are getting the SmartBorads http://www.smarttech.com/ or things like this to use with data projectors to do touch screen presentations and be able to write on the wall and save the things you draw to a file, very cool. Is there software for Linux to use the SmartBoards? That is the equipment I have to work with. The driver was available for Linux from their web site, but the link is broken now. I sent them a message.

Second, when giving an OpenOffice presentation I would like to be able to use a generic IR remote control to advance slides. Has anyone seen anything like that?

Thanks.
