hi all...

there have been a few questions regarding building KDE from source and i know
that Dan has been working on a set of scripts to automate the process...
well, there is a pretty comprehensive solution now, which you can get at:

        http://konsole.kde.org/konstruct/

it will download, build and install all of KDE, it's dependencies and
optionally language packages (i18n), additional apps such as koffice,
kdevelop, quanta, detektive, graphvix and mosfet-liquid.

if you find that it feels similar to GARNOME, that's because it is based on
the GAR ports system which GARNOME also uses. konstruct is being developed in
KDE's CVS by an experienced KDE developer, so i trust it's worth though i
haven't used it myself. Stephan Binner has been working on it for a while now
and it seems to have reached a point of maturity.
