Actually I think its a ram problem I'm having, I did pull one ram chip.. .that had some dust near it.. .and seeing that the system crashed when I put a boot disk into it... its a pretty good bet its that...

tomorrow I get a can of compressed air... and hope I didn't pooch ram, or ramslots.

Apple includes utilities on their installation CD. IIRC the app Drive
Setup should format the disk with a MacOS filesystem (HFS, HFS+, or
UFS). Or you could use the pdisk utility to put ext2 onto it ;-).
