Given that your new provider (say, Shaw for instance) uses DHCP to assign
addresses, you should be good to go. Matter of fact, you probably wouldn't
even have to change DNS entries. You should change them, of course, but
technically speaking its not necessary. ;-)

The only hang-ups would be:
* are you using PPPoE or something special for ADSL access?
* Telus blocks non-Telus IP ranges at their DNS servers. ;-)

Now, I actually don't know anything about MASQ, but I'd love to... think
I'll WikiWiki the presentation list. :-D

My advice is based on generic networking info, because it sounds like you
don't need anything specific (at this point).

Hope this helps,
Curtis.

Subject: (clug-talk) IP MASQ

Hey all,
If I had an established network that looked like this:

       (dhcp) (dhcp+IPMASQ)
telus -------->linuxbox-------------->10 windowsboxen

and I was using IP Masquarade (so the Linux box gets
and IP and does routing for the windows boxes....)

but I needed to change hosts (telus to somebody
else) could I just change the name servers in

/etc/resolv.conf

and still have the system work?

I am pretty ignorant about IPMasq and reluctant to
make the changes if it'll break everything...

Thanks for any suggestions you have...

Shane
