The Executive has decided that in order to facilitate the next phase of our quest for Society status, we will be holding a vote on the proposed Calgary Linux Users Group Mission Statement and Bylaws. They may be viewed at: http://clug.digitaldemesne.net/ The vote is open to Tier Two (2) members only. Almost all of the Tier Two (2) members have been notified at their registered email address. There were a few email addresses that were either missing or bounced namely: Nelson Metcalfe Darren Mondor Scott Young Giovanni Cuzzola If you know any of these individuals could you either forward them this message or send me whatever information you can. At present, we have 50 registered Tier Two (2) members. In accordance with our proposed Bylaws, 30% have to be in attendance to hold the election. That means 15 when you do the math. We are all hoping for a speedy passage for these Bylaws. These Bylaws are not written in stone. We had a meeting last fall where we presented them and asked for your comments on them in order to make any last minute changes. There were few at that time and most had been put into place. This is very encouraging. If this is all the excuse you need to sign up for Tier Two (2) membership, please see me at the beginning of the next meeting so that we may process you. If you are not a Tier Two (2) member, please don't feel put out. You have almost as much influence over the presidings of CLUG. Where the distinction really becomes apparent however, is when we need to decide on issues that concern the disbursement of CLUG funds and to take advantage of the various discounts we get. Some of the supporters of CLUG are not choosy as to which Tier you are in, they will take your business regardless. Show your pride. Personally speaking, this has been a long road. I will be happy once it is over and we can move ever onward. I cannot urge you enough to vote and make it count.
