Thanks for input people, Seems it is a problem with IBM's flaky ps/2. I sem to have got around it by by-passing the KVM switch with another mouse. This means having two mice on my desk but I can live with that. I am choked about the problem because I had the option of a Dell with same config for same price. Anyway I am very happy with the install generally, first time I have got linux rnning on a halfway modern machine (quarteway?). Thanks again graham
