well, it turns out I figured out my local admin type scripts, but irssi
scripts like scriptassist and such, wont go. looks like it might be a
site_perl path issue, but then I resolved that, and still no go. I am
test-driving gentoo 1.4_rc2. forum diving I go! :)

just wait til perl 6 ;-)

what kind of problems are you running into?  I haven't moved to 5.8, and I
haven't looked much at the changes between 5.6 and 5.8.  I thought much
of it was threads.
