Hello All,

At this evening's meeting we announced that we will be holding our first
official Annual General Meeting next month. At that time we will end the
current terms of office for the Executive Board including Yours Truly as
Treasurer. It has been a fabulous year for CLUG. I feel very honoured to have
taken part in seeking Society status for CLUG. We are now in the last stages
of the process.

With tonight's unanimous vote to accept the Bylaws we now have the filing of
the Society paperwork left to do and wait for the Government to approve us.
It is a momentous occassion for CLUG and I personally want to thank everyone
who participated again from the bottom of my heart. You came out in numbers
to exercise your right to choose. You chose to endorse the Bylaws that my
fellow Executives and I laid out.

I am very encouraged by what I saw tonight. I saw democracy at work. I saw a
unified group of individuals come together and agree on a subject that we all
feel passionately about. I believe that this is truly the beginning of what
CLUG can achieve.

Our small group is growing in numbers. We signed up 8 new members and renewed
3 others. Our current Tier Two membership consists of 58 members. 40 members
or 68% participated in the vote, we only needed 17 or 30% in order to hold
this vote. I can only hope that the Executive election goes as smoothly.

Start thinking of people who you wish to nominate for the various Executive
positions. We already have two nominations from the meeting.

Aaron, will not be seeking a second term as President as it is a strong
possibility that he and Mahlah (and Peyton) will be moving to Vancouver for
greener pastures. He has nominated me for the job of President. I accepted
the nomination. I have nominated Marcel Lecker for the position of Vice
President and he accepted.

We will be posting the job descriptions and duty guidelines that will be
expected of the candidates. We are looking for individuals who feel that they
can participate in this capacity to further CLUG's goals. We are looking for
people to commit time outside of their normal working hours and daily lives
to participate in the various activities that we will have going on in order
to further educate the masses about Linux and the Open Source Movement.
