Hey All, I would like to say thank-you to everyone who helped and participated in making Saturday's InstallFest part Deux yet another rousing success. I don't have figures on how many people attended the event or how many machines got the penguin put on them or how many books and such that Nexus sold because of all the bodies we had there but I think it was considerable on all fronts.
I hope that those that were listening to my IPCop demo managed to take something away from it despite my competition with the din that was ever present. I certainly enjoyed doing the demo. Thanks again to Shawn Grover for helping out with that. I apologize that I wasn't able to get the firewall up sooner to get Net access for the masses sooner. We got it to everyone eventually. Thanks also go to Brian Horncastle for his monster switch. Not least of all a great thanks to Nexus for providing us with a line to their network in the first place. We cannot thank Nexus enough for the continued support that they have for us. This was yet another success because of them and their tireless enthusiasm. We do hope in turn that if you do have need of any books or magazines that you will turn to them first, they can use all the business we can send their way. They were able to give away four books to people who attended the event. They also had a special shelf of greatly discounted books just for the event. Special thanks to Joe, Jean, Kevin and Stephen at the store for all your help and for putting up with a store full of geeks. We hope that everyone who was there had a good time. More importantly we hope that this was a good introduction to Linux for some of you or a forum to ask some of those long standing questions. I know that Aaron, Marcel, Shawn and many more were trying to answer as many questions as people had for them. There were many more people helping, I'm sorry I don't have all your names. Nexus is already looking forward to the next event as are we. I know we would like to continue holding events like this there while the enthusiasm remains high. I know that Peter Williams has been working hard to get us to hold an event at the Computer Recycling Society's warehouse. I think it is time to pass the torch to the next driven individual to help get the next event off the ground. We were hoping to have one of these about every two months or at least once per quarter of the year. The Executive will lend whatever support they can. We will make whatever announcements are necessary and we can provide some limited advertising materials. I can have some door posters announcing the upcoming event. Let's keep them coming. Sincerely, Jarrod Major CLUG Treasurer Registered Linux User: #224211
