right tool => right job
"right job" has nothing to do with company size, but the project being 
addressed. even the largest of companies have projects for which PHP can be 
considered on of the "right tools", and even the smallest of companies may 
have projects for which it is not.

ask Yahoo about that... or any other high volume / large PHP site.

that said, there are times with something like JSP is indeed much more 
sensible.
