That much I knew, the problem I ran into was that the user is not allowed to use mount, even using sudo (I imagine it's coded into mount?).
Are you sure?
Mount shouldn't be limited to root only. It may be that it's just in /sbin which is no in the path for regular users. Have you tried /sbin/mount?
