Motif and GTK are both GUI toolkits that provide button primatives, text
boxes, etc.

Motif is a pretty old GUI toolkit.  It's rather ugly but commonly
used on commercial Unixes I think.  GTK2 is far snazzier and really
common on Linux.  I would probably suggest GTK as it's interface will be
more familiar and nicer to look at.
