I'd add that Reiser wants to be very extended.  I don't think it's there
yet, but it wants to turn the file system into a database.

Hans Reiser is basically copying what IBM did with OS\400.  It's a great
idea, but it's alot of work too...  The next major version should be
released pretty soon, I think.

You'll find info on it at namesys.com.  There is an EXCELLENT article if you
follow the future vision link.  It's a long article, but well worth reading
if you're really into this type of stuff.
