(clug-talk) SSH Tunneling

A friend has asked me if it is possible to tunnel a IP port through an SSH connection. I think what he wants to do is use an SSH tunnel like a simple VPN but just for one port 139. This must be for two Windows boxes to do file sharing with two Linux SSH boxes between them.

I believe this is possible with some programming but I have never heard of anyone doing this. I don't know the reason but I think he would not be able to use a VPN to do this.

Has anyone done this? Is there a wrapper for SSH to do something like this?
