Hi All,
I have been googling and checking websites and maybe I am on crack here,
but I can't seem to find out what the system requirements are for MySQL,
PostGreSQL or Firebird. I haven't checked all the sites yet and will
dig further, but I hope someone can give me a quick synopsis of the
hardware required for theses guys.
I have an old 90 Mhz with about a 1GB hard drive and I am thinking of
using that as a small home database server for what equates to a home
intranet. Basically dumping the tables and stuff on there, but likely
storing larger files (MP3's, pictures, etc.) that will be in the
database on a seperate hard drive. Feel free to correct my errors in
thinking here if you like.
So far Postgre seems to be leading the race as far as what I am looking
for. It doesn't have full cross-platform support, but seems to be the
most like Oracle (what I am trained in), which is what I am looking for.
I appreciate eeryones insight and help in making the bes decision.
