You mention free DNS hosting. There are many free DNS hosting services available. After a bunch of research I choose to use http://zoneedit.com/.
It is free for under 5 domains and 200MB/year of DNS traffic (~1 million requests). They also offer free dynamic DNS.

For anyone considering using Linux as an Intranet server for their home or
small business (i.e. file storage, web server, email server, etc), I have
begun a series of web pages that guide you through the process.

The documents are a liitle rough around the edges right now, but I would appreciate any feedback to make them better. The current documents cover information to consider before undertaking a linux server. I have another document and a half coming in the next couple of days to cover the configuration of an email server.
Just a note though. My server may be inaccessible periodically as I confirm/test some routines, and once I get Apache running the way I'd like, the location of the files will move.
I'd prefer to hold off on making these public, but with the upcoming Install-fest, I think they are pertinent even if they are "not quite there" yet.
Comments are welcomed.
