To answer all questions, I will have access to both the server and client end of the
VPN. Although plugging in a couple of Smoothwall or Clark Connect boxes would cerainly
simplify things, the only two extra boxes I would have for this are coming with me for
other purposes so I need to install the server components on my existing RH 7.3
gateway. So far it sounds like I should be trying FreeSwan and so I have downloaded
the 2 rpm's and will give that a go.

Hopefully I will be able to adequently test things from with my internal network.

It may seem a little low-tech, but you could probably get what you want with
a couple of Smoothwall, IPcop, or Mitel (aka e-smith) boxes. They are fully
set up and ready to go with VPN. I've never done it myself, but the
instructions seem pretty straight forward.

I thought I would check with the fine talent on this list before embarking
on setting up a VPN for myself which I will need for at least the month of
July while I do some work in Vancouver. I have been looking at both FreeSwan
and OpenVPN and would like to hear peoples experiences and/or
recommendations on either of these.

Ideally since I only have a few days to set this up, configuration
simplicity is pretty important and I may need to access the VPN from both a
Windows 2000 client and RedHat 9 client. I need to have this up and running
by no later than next Saturday.

Thanks
