IANAMG (I am not a Mail Guru), but it seems strange to me that on the Comcast portion of the message your mailbox appears like so:
<robinsonkd @shaw.ca> Note the space after the mailbox name. This is consistent throughout the Comcast portion of the message, but the Shaw portion correctly reports your mailbox as being <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. I wonder if that is just a message formatting thing, or whether the Comcast server is really trying to look for <robinsonkd @shaw.ca>? That would almost certainly cause an undeliverable message. If that is the case, either your friend has the typo in his address book, or the server is formatting the address incorrectly for an reason beyond my knowledge. :-) Curtis. -----Original Message----- From: Keith Robinson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: July 7, 2003 10:33 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: (clug-talk) Slightly OT, 4.4.7 messages Mail gurus, please, Can I get some help solving an e-mail delivery problem. A friend's e-mail occasionally does not reach me and i can't see why. Their service recently changed from attbi to comcast.net, so i thought the comcast service was interpreting the sender as a spoof. But all attbi customers are now with comcast i am told so that does not seem to be the issue. Following are headers and all, edited. any ideas gratefully appreciated. -- Keith >From xxx @comcast.net Mon Jul 7 12:30:56 2003 Return-path: <xxx @comcast.net> Received: from shawmail.cg.shawcable.net by localhostwithPOP3(fetchmail-5.9.12) for [EMAIL PROTECTED] (single-drop); Mon, 07 Jul 2003 12:30:56-0600(MDT) Received:frompd2mr2so.prod.shaw.ca (pd2mr2so-qfe2.prod.shaw.ca[10.0.162.109])byl-daemon (iPlanetMessagingServer5.2HotFix1.16(built May 142003)) with ESMTPid<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for [EMAIL PROTECTED];Mon, 07Jul200312:30:41-0600 (MDT) Received:frompd2mi2so.prod.shaw.ca (pd2mi2so-qfe3.prod.shaw.ca[10.0.121.99]) byl-daemon(iPlanetMessaging Server 5.2 HotFix 1.16(built May14 2003)) withESMTPid <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for [EMAIL PROTECTED] ([EMAIL PROTECTED]); Mon, 07 Jul 2003 12:30:41-0600 (MDT) Received:from sccrmhc12.comcast.net (sccrmhc12.comcast.net[204.127.202.56]) by l-daemon (iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 HotFix 1.16(builtMay142003)) with ESMTPid<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>for [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Mon, 07Jul200312:29:55-0600(MDT) Received:from[24.126.126.91] (c-24-126-126-91.we.client2.attbi.com[24.126.126.91](untrusted sender)) bycomcast.net(sccrmhc12)withESMTP id <2003070718295301200akugme>;Mon, 07Jul200318:29:54 +0000 Date:Mon,07Jul 2003 11:35:40 -0700 >From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: Returned mail: delivery problems encountered >Date: 7 Jul 2003 8:32:31 +0000 >To: <xxxxxxx @comcast.net> > >A message (from <xxxxxxx @comcast.net>) was received at 3 Jul >2003 13:50:17 +0000. > >The following addresses had delivery problems: > >robinsonkd @shaw.ca > Persistent Transient Failure: Delivery time expired > Delivery last attempted at 3 Jul 2003 13:50:18 +0000 > >Reporting-MTA: dns; comcast.net >Arrival-Date: 3 Jul 2003 13:50:17 +0000 > >Final-Recipient: rfc822; robinsonkd @shaw.ca >Action: failed >Status: 4.4.7 Unable to contact host for 3 days, >Diagnostic-Code: smtp; Persistent Transient Failure: Delivery time expired >Last-Attempt-Date: 3 Jul 2003 13:50:18 +0000 > >Received: from [24.126.126.91] >(c-24-126-126-91.we.client2.attbi.com[24.126.126.91](untrusted >sender)) > by comcast.net (rwcrmhc13) with ESMTP > id <2003070313501701500q0qeae>; Thu, 3 Jul 2003 13:50:17 +0000 >Mime-Version: 1.0 >X-Sender: xxxxx @mail.comcast.net >Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2003 06:55:59 -0700 >To: Keith Robinson <robinsonkd @shaw.ca>
