One thing to keep in mind is that not all servers fit into all the racks easily. For example, getting a Compaq server into a non-compaq rack is hard, and ugly, and usually involves purchasing extra pieces from Compaq to make it fit at all.
So take a good look at the piece you purchase first (servers or racks) and then make the second purchase accordingly. Then there's the second option.
