Hey Gang,
It has been decided to hold the 2003 CLUG barbecue in a more public venue this year. We decided to hold it on Monday August 25th at Edworthy Park (south side of the river). You can show up anytime after 5:00pm. Map to follow. Edworthy has ample parking on the North side of the river. There is good Transit access to the area and there are bike paths coming from all directions.
This date is to coincide with the 12th anniversary of Linux. We thought we would avoid weekend conflicts and encounter less competition for space in the park. We will be contacting the City of Calgary to reserve. Currently there is no fire ban in the City and the park has barbecue pits. If there is a fire ban we will most likely lug gas barbecues in. We'll keep you posted.
City Bylaws prohibit the consumption of alcohol in it's parks. If you decide to ignore those Bylaws, you do so at your own risk and CLUG will NOT be responsible for any fines you incur.
We are also thinking of inviting CUUG to the event as a goodwill gesture. Anyone have any objections to that?
