If it works from the (keyboard) alias console right now, then check the 
network settings, maybe the default firewall is blocking port 22 for ssh.
If that is not the case, check /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny for any
content. also check /etc/securetty maybe tty1 to ttyxx are missing from it.
