We've had a Linux server running for 3+ years, with very little attention needed and very little down time. The server is serving static web pages. In the time I've been the sys admin here (not my primary role), I've had to cycle the power on the server once - and that was due to a misunderstanding on my part (a nic was being reported as not being operational - turned out the previous sys admin had removed the second nic in the box, but not cleaned up the boot configuration).
