the application doesn't handle any of that, it's all done within the file dialog and the KIO layer(s).... if you just do ftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED] in the location bar of the file dialog (leave out the password) it should prompt you for a password (if it hasn't already cached it) via a little dialog... if you do it that way, do you fare any better? > Am I missing a setting somewhere? no, this all "just works" (or, in your case, "just doesn't" ;) which version of KDE are you using? what ftp server are you using? - -- Aaron J.
