Do you know if she is authenticating properly with the SMTP server when
sending mail? If she isn't, I wouldn't be surprised if a server somewhere
is rejecting the mail relay. Authenticating with your mail client is not
necessarily the same as authenticating with the smtp server. Most mail
clients handle this properly, but most of my own problems with email through
Linux occur due to authentication troubles...

Hope this helps some...

Subject: (clug-talk) Sendmail problem

A friend of mine is having an odd problem sending emails. I hooked her up
with
a shaw addy under my account, and she has been using their web-mail to
send/receive. The odd thing is that she can send mail to people on shaws
domain, but has problems with others. She gets...

Reason: Remote SMTP server has rejected address
Diagnostic code: smtp;550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable
  Remote system: dns;mx3.hotmail.com (TCP|10.0.120.133|34051|65.54.167.5|25)

---OR---

Reason: Illegal host/domain name found

Before you ask, the addresses shes sending to are valid, and typed
correctly.
You'll notice and mock the example I posted b/c its hotmail, but its
happening when sending to other hosts/domains [ie cnrl.ca]. The only thing I
can fathom is she has capital letters in her address, is it possible the
server chokes on that?
