actually googling last night (30-40mins of searching after i sent that email).
i found one, very small link, to someone who did install the HLDS (halflife dedicated server) to the mac... my current problem, is that i can only download this stupid binary (no tar, or gz) through IE on windows... then copy it to my mac server... from what I can tell that process destroys part of the file. i've tried doing both chmod a+x and chmod 755... then running with ./hlds.bin and sh hlds.bin... everything fails. so it can be installed... and people have... i'll post a url later on... but right now, any ideas how i can safely download that binary on my pc? (or even my macintosh powerbook, running os9/osX). thanks, sorry for all the confusion. from what I've heard, you can get HL for the mac, if that turns out to be true, i'll let everyone know. -- web: www.wormhole5.org current: calgary, ab ----- Original Message ----- From: Curtis Sloan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Wednesday, Oct ober 8, 2003 11:45 am Subject: RE: (clug-talk) (OT) Half-life server for linux > As usual, I embody the policy "spout off first, research later". :- > P Here > is an (old) "news" article explaining the state of HL on Mac: > > ------------ > Thursday 21st October 1999 > > > MAC GAMERS FURY OVER HALF-LIFE > > Vehement backlash stings Sierra > > > Following the cancellation of Half-Life for Mac, the Inside Mac > Games forum > has erupted in the last 24 hours, with vitriolic gamers pulling no > punchesin their criticism of Sierra, Valve, and Logicware.
