if you aren't using KDE, the answer below will be of limited help. but since
you're using SUSE, i'll assume you are.

if your windows key is mapped properly, you can adjust this by going to the
Keyboard Shortcuts control panel (in the Regional & Accessability group).
there's even a Windows shortcut scheme you can pick from that will set things
up to be rather familiar.

by default it's Alt-Ctrl-D. you can change this as i mentioned above. with the
windows scheme it is indeed Win-D.

all apps, or just certain ones? which ones, if any?

well, i know a somewhat curcuitous route. KDE comes with a program called
kmailcvt. this is used by KMail to import mails and addressbooks from other
formats, including Outlook Express. it will import the mails into your ~/Mail
directory where they will be stored in a standard format. Evolution will be
able to read this format, though you may need to move the resulting files to
wherever Evolution keeps it's mail.

if i knew what a mouse felt like in Windows XP perhaps i could help, but alas,
i don't. my XP experience is rather limited. have you tried monkeying with
the Mouse control panel?
