.gz can probably be opened with winzip on windows or (and
this will be easier overall) gunzip on Linux. After that, you'll need to
modify your boot disk to load these drivers at boot. My GUESS (and it is a
guess) is that you'll find that you boot disk is a mini-dostro, and if you edit
/etc/modules.conf (or similar) you'll be able to have these drivers also loaded
at boot time.
Alternately, you could use insmod (or modprobe) to load
the module after the distro is running, probably in
/etc/rc.d/rc.local.
