I've seen this behavior before. I would see it when I would Reply to an message. If the message was from [EMAIL PROTECTED], the addressed automagically populated on the reply message would be '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' (note the quotes). I would have to manually remove the quotes to send the mail properly.
I never really found the fix for this, it would just happen once in a while. But, being aware of it was kinda useful. Hope this helps. The SMTP server is running sendmail and the client apparently has Outlook 2000 configured for "Corporate Workgroup". Also, apparently the SMTP server used to be an Exchange server of some description.
