MCI still uses Telus if they are offering DSL. Unless they were willing to start building their own local telephone network like Bell. Shaw doesn't own a backplane any more but does have it's own distribution network. It's owned and run by it's sister company Global Telecom (Formally Shaw Fiber-link). The local dsl services AT&T, Sprint (Maybe), MCI, Radiant, Interbaun, Nucleus, Telus almost all use the telus phone network for access to the clients. They don't all use Telus's backbone though. Bell, MCI, AT&T, Sprint and Radiant all have their own backbones though they would be hooked into Telus as well. Bell is an interesting solution as they are setup their own COs and pedestals for phone and dsl service but that limits where their service is currently available. You will note that the cheaper DSL players don't have their own back bones. IE Nucleus, Interbaun. The more expensive ones do Radiant, AT&T, MCI. This of course excludes Telus which offers both the cheaper and more expensive DSL services. regards, -- Mark Lane, CET mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Hard Data Ltd. http://www.harddata.com T: 01-780-456-9771 F: 01-780-456-9772 11060 - 166 Avenue Edmonton, AB, Canada, T5X 1Y3 --> Ask me about our Excellent 1U Systems! <-- _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca
