Trevor, I am like you and would LOVE to have one of these. I have talked to the person at Sharp directly responsible for getting these in Canada...mind you...this is when the 5500's came out. He said that until he has adequate support and CSA approval the Zaurus will not be sold in Canada.
I know there are some places that will ship to Canada...if I remember correctly I think JandR does...but don't quote me. Try the following links and see if that helps.
