Many thanks for the feedback and information. Your idea of getting/burning my own CD is one I can certainly try, and if that doesn't work, I'll take you up on your offer at a later time.
I'll also check out Mepis.
thanx again, pat

Hi Pat,
Do you not have broadband and a CD burner?
You can grab the iso from many sites. e.g.:

You might want to try MEPIS too, I was quite impressed with it (also Debian based):

There are also places like Cheapbytes where you can order a CD:

If you're going to the meeting tonight I can burn you a copy of Knoppix and bring it.
Or, if you live in the South (I'm in Deer Run) I can drop it off when I'm out and about.
Cheers

Hello, group.
I'm an occasional lurker who is once again going to try to get Linux on my machine. After spending too many $$$ with "proprietary" software, I've decided to try the quick, dirty and cheap route; namely Knoppix on CD. Unfortunately, when I try the two Canadian vendors, I cannot order the CD (??) so I'm hoping one of you has one I can buy.
If anyone sees a problem with a real computer klutz going this route, feel free to chip in with your advice.
cheers pat
