Sometimes it's just a matter of talking to the right tech. I remember when I
first setup a DSL account with Cadvision, I was having problems getting it
working, and I talked to a couple guys who said they would not support Linux.
Then I talked to another tech and I said "So, you don't support Linux right?"
and he said that they do, just unofficially. He said he was actually using
Mandrake right now, and told me exactly how to set it up. Then when I had to
move to Telus I must have talked to 5 or 10 guys who told me that they would
not support Linux or my hardware router. I fineally got it going on Windows,
but that didn't help me since I had multiple machines and they all ran Linux.
All of the tech support guys told me that they used PPPOE, but I was able to
convince one guy to just listen to the settings that I had in my router. He
then said that they did not use PPPOE and everything worked fine.
