Morning all,

I've gotten into the habit of using the FQDN, fully qualified domain names,
of any email provider rather than the "shortcut" that many of them use such
as "mail", "shawmail" etc. As pointed out, but not defined, Shaw's FQDN for
POP and SMTP is shawmail.cg.shawcable.net. More than once I've got mail
working using the shortcuts which resolve without a problem most of the time
and then had it fail with a "server not found" at some time later. This is
especially true when behind a "router" (read NAT box). Or when posting FROM
another provider's network on a valid account.

Cheers,

Subject: [clug-talk] Setting up KMail for a shawmail account....

Hello,

I just wonder if anyone out there has set up KMail
using a shawmail account. I can't seem to get it
going; granted, there's nothing to tell me what to do.
All I have to go on is that POP3 and SMTP are
"shawmail" -- which I have entered into the "host"
field in KMail's setup.

If anyone could give some pointers, it would be much
appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
