I've not used bincimap with qmail as yet. I use courier-imap on all our mail servers. I have seen others complaining of high cpu usage with bincimap, and the consensus seems to be that binimap requires about 3 times as much cpu usage as courier-imap to complete the same transaction, but completes the transaction faster. Your scenario seems to be using rather excessive amounts of cpu though.
