Hi all.

I have a contact who is a member of the CCAT organization (www.ccat.org).
As I understand things, this organization promotes advanced technology
through presentations. It appears to be an organization to generate
networking opportunities for businesses and individuals. The list of
upcoming presentations looks interesting to the likes of us Linux users.

So, I was wondering if there would be enough interest to pursue a membership
in CCAT, or a similiar organization, to allow CLUG members access to the
networking opportunities, and the presentations at "member prices" (not
quite sure what they mean by this yet - does every event cost, or do members
get free access?).

The reason I bring this up here, is that this may become a recurring expense
(yearly) to CLUG. So, this would likely need a member vote to approve the
expense. Seeing as the AGM is only a week away, that would probably be a
good time to hold such a vote.

If CCAT is not deemed to be suitable, are there other local organizations
that might provide similar benefits? (besides CLUG that is :) ).

Thoughts or comments?

Shawn

(ps. Their web site isn't overly forthcoming with the info a person would
likely be looking for to learn about CCAT. It seems to be geared more to
those who already know who they are and what they do. But, I can get more
info from my contact if there is interest from the group).
