Just to clarify some statements about PostgreSQL:


Yes ... Great Bridge did close its doors in 2001.  That is not to say that the 
efforts were disbanded, they were just moved to other places.  Bruce Momjian 
(one of the founding postgres members, and maintainer) now works for SRA 
based in Tokyo.  His position is still postgres.  He just no longer works for 
Great Bridge.

And other members now work elsewhere.  Tom Lane now works for Red Hat.  He 
works on the Red Hat Database ... which yes was disbanded ... sort of.  Red 
Hat just adopted using PostgreSQL for the project.

So that article does not paint the entire picture.
