Guess who's advertising on Linuxplanet.com? Yep, our old friend Bill. He wants us to be aware that "Mainframe Linux was found to be 10x more expensive than Windoze Server 2003". I see you protesting; the denial is palpable. But it must be true: after all, it's right there in black and white, and the study was audited by the META Group.

Yep, $40/MB/s for M$ vs $415 for Mainframe Linux.

Can't provide a link (it's a Flash ad) but a quick surf to the Linuxplanet.com home page will show the ad in question. The "get the facts" button takes you to

http://www.microsoft.com/getthefacts

Must be a popular web page. It renders as a plain text screen with the message:

>>>Gateway Timeout >>>The following error occurred:

>>>Server unreachable
>>>Please contact the administrator.

Sure glad it's being served by Server 2k3! Cheap _and_ reliable! ROFL

That little old penguin must really be making Bill nervous. What's next? Guys in suits picketing Linux vendors with leaflets?

I'm racking my brain trying to find a business analogy, but...the irony is obvious. Good grief!

Frank
